I’ve created my About Me page and created a text widget for my lesson today. May be a first draft as it seems to need more splash. Will take a look at what my colleagues have done for some inspiration.
This has been a challenge for me, how to encapsulate in a few words why I’m here with what the name of my blog means to me. Eve, well that’s easy, woman, Oak = strength, an apple in an oak? Well that is thought provoking isn’t it?
I found this description when looking at the definition of evoke: “To produce through artistry & imagination a vivid impression of reality.” Seems to express it very well indeed.
So you may ask who am I and why am I here?
Well I’ve become an unemployed 50 something woman who until 4 months ago thought that I knew who I was and what I was going to do with the rest of my career.
Funny how things change! Now that I’ve lost that job of 14 years, I’m ready to learn some of the things that I always said I don’t have the time to learn that or time to
focus on this, or I’m too tired to be creative, or I’ve got a million other things that are more important.
(If the EDD cops are out there reading my post then please note I’m also looking for work each and every day and not just blogging about…)
I came up with the idea of having my own blog after setting up a WordPress site for a friend of mine, here it is if you would like to take a look.
Still a work in progress but was fun to do.
I like so many of us I’m sure, would love to do something for the rest of my life that I enjoy, trouble is I suffer from imnotgoodenoughitus. But not going to let that nasty bug stop me.
My idea for my blog is to share my photography, art and wirewrapped jewelery, (maybe sometime sell some of it) or to inspire some other like minded people who are reinventing themselves too. I see so many inspring things that my friends post on FB or other social media and I want to pass along what I have learned from them. Also would like to share the techie things I’ve learned and learn from others all about this new world of blogging and WordPress.
What I’ve done so far in the pursuit of job-happiness is to take a class on WordPress (I’m used to using FrontPage and Dreamweaver), create my blog and sign up for the Daily Post and Blogging 101. Who knows where it will go? In a year maybe I will have forged some relationships where we can help each other out in our qwests whatever they may be.
